Welcome to Galicia’s Museo do Mar. Here you can learn about the long-lasting historical relationship of the people of Galicia with the sea, stemming from both their rational use and their increased knowledge of the marine environment.

The route across the Museum’s rooms will provide the visitor with a view of the varied marine activities developed throughout history: harvest fishing, shellfish collection, and aquaculture; different fish preservation methods —from age-old salting to modern freezing systems—, as well as technical developments in boat building and marine biology. The route also includes a visit to the Museum’s aquarium, which depicts the most important ecosystems between the Museum’s pier and the cliffs of the Cíes Islands. Let’s now start a visit aimed at making the visitor feel a much closer relationship with the sea.
